A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION COMMENDING MISS SHELLIE ROSS ON BEING ELECTED PRESIDENT OF THE EPSILON ZETA CHAPTER OF KAPPA ALPHA THETA SORORITY AT THE UNIVERSITY OF MISSISSIPPI.

WHEREAS, Miss Shellie Ross has been elected President of the Epsilon Zeta Chapter of the Kappa Alpha Theta Sorority located at the University of Mississippi; and

WHEREAS, Miss Ross, the daughter of Ron and Judy Ross of Harleston, Mississippi, is also a member of Sigma Tau Delta, Lambda Sigma, Alpha Lambda Delta and Gamma Beta Phi honor societies and was recently inducted into the Golden Key National Honor Society; and

WHEREAS, a junior at the University of Mississippi, Miss Ross serves as an Ole Miss Ambassador and is on the chancellor's and dean's honor rolls; and

WHEREAS, Miss Ross, an English major, is a member of the campus "Rebels With A Cause" Peer Education Program and formerly served as Kappa Alpha Theta's Member Educator; and

WHEREAS, Miss Ross received the Spirit of Theta award and was nominated for a national scholarship by her sorority, Kappa Alpha Theta; and

WHEREAS, the Legislature of the State of Mississippi finds it most appropriate to recognize and commend excellence especially when evidenced by the young people of our state, who are its future:

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, THE SENATE CONCURRING THEREIN, That we do hereby commend and congratulate Miss Shellie Ross on being elected President of the Epsilon Zeta Chapter of the Kappa Alpha Theta Sorority at the University of Mississippi and extend to her our heartiest wishes for success in all her future endeavors.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be furnished to Miss Shellie Ross and members of the Capitol Press Corps.
